Hike at South Mountain Feb 21 at 830a

It's the perfect time of year to go hiking and we will be hiking a trail at South Mountain followed by brunch at the Farm at South Mountain. We will meet at the Beverly Canyon trailhead. It is just south of Baseline and 46th St. At the intersection of these two streets, turn south (it's the only way to turn-the other direction is an apartment complex) and drive through an industrial park until you reach the parking area. If you plan to attend please email so we ensure we don't leave without you!

Peace Corps Week is rapidly approaching (March 1-7) and we have BIG plans this year!

In coordination with the PC recruiter, we're doing a "Journey Around the World" on Sunday March 1st from noon to 3 pm downtown at the A/E Center.
The concept is: Participating RPCVs will be bringing a few mementos representing their service (artifact, photo album, etc.) and we'll set up tables like an exhibit hall. (We did something similar last year at a Scottsdale library, but this year we'll have more space!) If you're interested in having a table to exhibit a few mementos, please email Sara by Feb 21 at

We'll be wrapping up Peace Corps Week on Friday March 5th, in conjunction with First Friday downtown.  We'll start with Happy Hour starting at 4:30 at Paz Cantina (4th St and Roosevelt).  Very close to Paz Cantina, we will have a booth (as part of First Friday) where we'll be selling artwork.  If you have any artwork you'd like to sell at the booth, please contact Deanna at

This is also a call for your favorite photos (of absolutely anything) from your Peace Corps service for postcards which we can advertise our group with and use as a fundraiser at our March 6th First Friday event! (We use the funds to sponsor Peace Corps Partnership Projects.) Feel free to email Deanna the images or any questions at

Event Recap:  RPCV Phoenix Welcomes National Peace Corps Association President Glenn Blumhorst
The Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Phoenix welcomed National Peace Corps Association President Glenn Blumhorst to speak to its members on Wednesday, January 21st  at the co-working space The Office Pile.

Blumhorst  spoke about NPCA’s commitment to Peace Corps volunteers at all stages from application, to service, to post-service. A few NCPA initiatives that were mentioned were the Peace Corps Equity Act, the Respect for Peace Corps Volunteers Act of 2013, and work with the private sector to provide resources for volunteers in the field.

Accompanying Blumhorst at the talk were representatives of two terrific causes, Water Charity and Village X. Water Charity is a non-profit dedicated to helping people access clean drinking water and improved sanitation. Water Charity has done over 1,800 water, sanitation and public health projects in 63 countries, so far. Village X is an app that allows you to get discounts at local businesses and then use the money saved from those discounts to donate to a charity.
